Kamaz to relaunch assembly of trucks in Vietnam in Oct–Dec
MOSCOW, Oct 23 (PRIME) -- Russia’s largest truck producer Kamaz plans to relaunch assembly of its trucks in Vietnam ahead of schedule in October–December, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Major export markets are the Central Asia, Kazakhstan, and Vietnam. Assembly of Kamaz cars will be relaunched at the facility in Vietnam already in the fourth quarter,” the company said.
Kamaz CEO Sergei Kogogin said earlier that the company planned to launch assembly of trucks in Vietnam in 2020, and that the facility would produce 1,000–1,200 trucks at the first stage. Up until recently, assembly of cars was not profitable in the country as import duties for cars were lower than for car kits, but the situation changed when authorities started renewing their car parks, and their conditions cover only locally-assembled cars, he said then.
